A pessimistic physicist once said, "Time is nothing but the measure of the universe's increasing entropy."  Actually, I think I'm the first one to phrase it like that, as google.com just confirmed.  It follows, then, that all things lead to the heat-death of the universe, and that everything is ultimately destructive, or worse, that the natural state of things is a lukewarm matter soup that will ultimately prevail.
Why, then, do I feel any guilt for choosing to be a Republican?  It's not like the universe will go lukewarm any sooner if my Super Tuesday vote didn't go to Ron Paul.
I wrote a paper during my freshman year of high school that started with: "My name is Jake Throckmorton, and I am among the last generation of Americans."  I may be proven early, but can't yet imagine being proven wrong.
